Graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Moscow State University in 1974 with the final degree work "On the Kant's Doctrine of Space". In 1981 defended a thesis "Joint Labour and Scientific and Technological Revolution (Methodological Aspects)".

On May 2000 defended thesis for a Doctor's degree "The Problem of Freedom in Russian Philosophy of the XIX Century (P. Chaadaev, Vl. Soloviev, F. Dostoevsky)".

In 1986-88 M.I. Nenashev was the decan of the Faculty of History and Geography, the head of the Social Sciences Department and Professor of Philosophy at the Higher Pedagogical Institute in People's Republic of Mozambique, Maputo.
